How to Apply for UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE)

Applying for the UPSC Civil Services Exam is done only through the official website of UPSC. The entire application process is online and follows these steps:

 

Visit the Official UPSC Website

www.upsc.gov.in (for notification & updates)

www.upsconline.nic.in (for application)

 

Read the Notification

  • Carefully go through the CSE Notification (released every year in February/March).
  • Check eligibility, exam pattern, syllabus, and important dates.
 

Complete Part-I Registration

  • Fill in basic details: name, date of birth, educational qualification, category, etc.
  • Choose your preferred exam center.
 

Complete Part-II Registration

  • Upload scanned photograph, signature, and photo ID proof as per specifications.
  • Pay the examination fee online (₹100 for General/OBC male candidates; SC/ST/PwBD and all female candidates are exempted).
 

Submit the Application Form

  • Check all details carefully before final submission.
  • Download and save the application form and fee receipt for future reference.
 

Download Admit Card

  • UPSC releases the admit card around 3 weeks before the exam on its official website.
  • Candidates must carry the admit card and a valid photo ID to the exam hall.
 

Important Points

  • Applications are accepted only online; no offline forms are available.
  • Each candidate is allowed only one application. Multiple forms may lead to cancellation.
  • Ensure that the photo, signature, and documents are clear and uploaded in the correct format.
