UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) – Eligibility Criteria
To appear for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, candidates must meet the following eligibility conditions:

1. Nationality
|
- For IAS & IPS: Candidate must be a citizen of India.
- For other services: Candidate must be either:
- Citizen of India, OR
- Subject of Nepal/Bhutan, OR
- Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962, OR
- Person of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.

2. Educational Qualification
|
- A candidate must hold a graduate degree from a recognized university.
- Final year students awaiting results can also apply, provided they can submit proof of passing before the Mains exam.

3. Age Limit
|
- Candidate must be 21 years old and not more than 32 years old on 1st August of the exam year.
- Age Relaxation:
- OBC: 3 years (up to 35 years)
- SC/ST: 5 years (up to 37 years)
- PwBD: 10 years (up to 42 years)

4. Number of Attempts
|
- General Category: 6 attempts up to 32 years
- OBC: 9 attempts up to 35 years
- SC/ST: Unlimited attempts up to 37 years
- PwBD: Relaxed attempts as per category

5. Physical Standards
|
- Candidates must be physically fit as per the Civil Services medical guidelines for admission to the services.

? NOTE: Candidates claiming reservation must upload valid certificates (Caste, EWS, Disability, etc.) in the format prescribed by UPSC / DoPT, otherwise the benefit will not be given.
